Gumbo Ridge Kennels offers quality puppies, started, and finished hounds. Jim and his father personally run each hound and have a knack for discovering their "personal" qualities. Lynda fell in love with these little dogs about seven years ago. Havanese are a small "lapdog" ranging in size from 8 1/2 to 11 1/2 inches tall. They can be any color or combination of colors. They are considered non-shedding and hypo-allergenic due to their hairs long growing cycle. They originated in Cuba or the Mediterranean area and are the National dog of Cuba. They are long haired, and require brushing only a few times a week to keep them well groomed. A short walk or two a day is all they require for exercise. They are very energetic, but strive to please their owner. They are very good around children and make a wonderful family pet. We offer APRI and/or AKC registration depending on their ancestry.
